FW: Clayton Diving Club - January meeting minutes

Subject: Clayton Diving Club - January meeting minutes

The meeting was opened by club president Dennis McCarthy at 5:30 pm on January 10.  In attendance were Diane Hammond, Joe Dudiak, Ken Kozin, Carol Kozin, Kathi McCarthy, Dennis McCarthy, John Krake and Skip Couch.

Secretary report:  Joe Dudiak read the minutes from the December meeting.  The minutes were then accepted as written.

Treasurer report:  Ken Kozin reported that the current club balance is $521.21, including $131.05 in the mooring fund.   The treasury report was then accepted.

Old Business:

Dive Site Project
Joe Dudiak reported that no further information was provided by the Clayton Village Board of Trustees.  The Village Planning Board has contacted the NY Office of General Services to discuss the project.  The Village will not submit the Joint Application until after the Planning Board provides their findings.

Buoys
Ken Kozin reported on the metal buoy light cages that need to be upgraded.  Wayne Green might assist in welding the new heavy duty cages.  Ken plans to purchase the material that will be needed for the effort.  Ken also reported that the chains may need to be replaced on some of the buoys due to normal wear.  The club had purchased additional chain for the Divers Access Dock but could be used for the buoys if needed.

Divers Access Dock
No additional information was available regarding the condition of the Divers Access Dock.   There was discussion regarding a past request by the Village to assist in blocking the sewer outflow at the Frink Park dock so that swimmers cannot enter.  It was reported that the Village had purchased a metal grate to be placed over the opening.  Divers from the club are willing to assist in placement of the barrier.

New club Website
Dennis McCarthy reported that the new website is now functional.   Official club documents, such as the By-laws as well as other documents, need to be resurrected and then placed on the website for safe storage.  There was also discussion regarding the technical connectivity of the new website to the existing website name versus purchasing a new club website URL.  Dennis will discuss the options with Lisa Goodlin.  Lisa has offered to fund and maintain the existing URLs (claytondivingclub.com, claytondivingclub.net) and then to link them to the new website.

2019 International Boating Safety event
The club has been invited by the US Coast Guard Auxiliary to participate in this event held at Bonnie Castle on June 1 from 10-5 pm.  The club has agreed to provide a booth to promote dive flag awareness and how it pertains to boating safety, to promote the local shipwrecks of the St. Lawrence River and to help promote our Clayton Diving Club.

New Business

Clayton Chamber of Commerce: Dennis McCarthy reported that the Clayton Chamber of Commerce website has included some old pictures of the Clayton Diving Club and they would like to promote the club and its activities.  Ideally they could link to the new club website for current information.  Additional discussion with the Chamber needs to take place and Dennis will pursue it.
